DESCRIPTION:The Windsor Public Library and the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter DAR invite you to a program featuring the music of Connecticut’s Revolution. What a Glorious Crash They Made will feature songs exclusively from Connecticut during the Revolutionary War\, presented by music historian Richard Franklin Donohue. \nMr. Donohue\, singing and playing the harpsichord\, will explore this fiery repertoire that in the words of John Adams “cultivated the sensations of Freedom.” This program will be on Monday\, August 24 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. \nIn addition to the music history program\, the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter will present a newly-commissioned decorative quilt featuring America250 themes to be displayed in the Windsor Public Library. \nRegistration is required for this event. Registration will open on June 1\, 2026 @ 10:00am. \nSponsored by the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth DAR Chapter and Windsor Library Association.

DESCRIPTION:Windsor Muster\n\n\nThe Windsor Fife and Drum Corps holds their annual muster each year on the first Saturday after Labor Day on the beautiful Windsor town green. The Corps hosts several other premier fife & drum corps from near and far for an afternoon of friendship and music. \n​The event is free and open to the public and includes a short parade through Windsor Center\, followed by performances from each group. \nWindsorCT250 with Windsor Historical Society will have a variety of historic yard games and toys children of all ages can try and play while on the green as part of this year’s event.

SUMMARY:Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor Fall Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join DFAW in person or via Zoom for their fall meeting\nConnecticut played an outsized role in winning U.S. independence from the British Empire and creating a new country. Roger Sherman\, Oliver Ellsworth\, Jonathan Trumbull\, Israel Putnam\, Benedict Arnold\, Nathan Hale\, and others played critical roles. General George Washington and French General Rochambeau held their strategy meetings on how to beat the British in Connecticut. Connecticut earned the nickname “the provisions state” because it supplied so much food and ammunition to the Continental Army. Hundreds died in military actions in Danbury\, Ridgefield\, Saugatuck\, Groton\, New London\, New Haven\, Greenwich\, Norwalk\, and Fairfield. \nNoted storyteller and journalist Mike Allen\, host of the popular podcast Amazing Tales About History\, will walk through many key people and events in Connecticut during our nation’s tumultuous march to independence 250 years ago. The talk will be held on Saturday\, September 26\, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time at the Windsor Historical Society at 96 Palisado Ave\, Windsor and will also be broadcast by Zoom nationwide. \nThe talk is sponsored by the Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor as part of WindsorCT250 activities. \nMike Allen specializes in bringing history to life.
